Raül Blanco Díaz

Mr. Blanco holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Barcelona. He also holds a postgraduate degree in Local and Regional Development, also from the University of Barcelona, and a postgraduate degree in Financial English at Pompeu Fabra University – British Council.

Currently, he is Chairman & CEO of Renfe. Previously, he was the General Director of the Escuela de Organización Industrial (EOI). From June 2018 until December 2022, Mr. Blanco held the position of Secretary General of Industry and Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in the Spanish Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism.

He also held the positions of Director of Economic Development and Employment in the City Council of L'Hospitalet de Llobregat (Barcelona); Manager of Industrial Strategy in the General Directorate of Industry of the Generalitat of Catalonia; and Head of Studies and Publications Service of CIDEM, Department of Labour and Industry of the Generalitat of Catalonia.

In the teaching field, he has taught classes at the Centre for International Studies-University of Barcelona- and at the schools of Economics and Business of Rovira i Virgili University and the University of Barcelona. Likewise, he has collaborated in courses and seminars in other national and international centres.
