Vijay Bains

Vijay is the Chief Sustainability Officer and Group Head of ESG at Emirates NBD Group, responsible for leading sustainability strategy and its implementation across the organization. He oversees the Sustainable & Transition Finance Strategy, Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) programs, and has worked in sustainability for 20 years. His experience spans roles in banking with the European Bank of Reconstruction & Development, Lloyds Banking Group, and in consulting with KPMG UK on Sustainable Finance and ESG strategy.

Vijay has a strong background in sustainable finance framework design, due diligence, and sustainability risk management. He is actively involved in several sustainability leadership councils, including the UAE Banking Federation Sustainability Leadership Council, DIFC Sustainable Finance Council, ADGM Sustainable Finance Leadership Council, the World Economic Forum of Sustainability Leaders, and S&P Sustainability Leadership Council.

Additionally, Vijay is a Chartered Environmental Scientist and a Member of the Royal Geographical Society.
